Day 11

Yesterday I weighed in at 166.6! Which is the lowest I have been in a while. I exercise regularly, and since I started this Paleo/Low Oxalate diet, I seem to be losing relatively consistently. (Which is not my purpose, but rather an advantage of the Paleo diet.) My calories are between 1300 and 2200 depending on what I make each day to eat--I try to vary them on purpose with the assumption that it is good to keep your body guessing as to how many calories it will get.

For my height and size, I need approximately 2200 calories to maintain my weight. Traditionally, you are supposed to subtract about 500 calories a week to give yourself a weight loss of a pound a week which leaves me with 1700 calories to eat each day. I probably average about 1700 calories a day from Monday to Sunday, but some days are very low, and other days are much higher. I have a very efficient body. Some weeks ago, before I began this journal I was eating a strict diet of 1500 calories a day and exercising 5 hours a day, and while I lost 12 pounds the first week and half, my weight loss stopped pretty much in week two and despite all my hard work, I didn't start losing again until 9 weeks later when I cut out a large part of my exercise, and stopped restricting my calories so consistently. Now, I try to do both with a mind to our Paleolithic ancestors. I exercise three days a week, I run and lift weights, and in between I may walk a couple of hours a day, or I may not...I try to do things without so much consistency that my body adapts to them. Some days I do nothing at all... :)
