Here is a snack I am having. It is leftover tuna/salmon salad from lunch yesterday with minced yellow pepper, cucumber, and some halved grape tomatoes. I had a mixture of green and white tea with it. I am severely jet lagged due to a trip home to the states recently (I live in Germany at the moment) and so have been really tired and waking up at weird times, like now. 3:30 am. Anyway this is sort of a pre-breakfast snack. I didn't have dinner last night, fell asleep at 6pm and just slept until now. I will probably have something else for "breakfast" later.
I have been toying with the idea of Intermittant Fasting for health. There is a lot of evidence that it may be beneficial--and in fact many people apparently do this for the health benefits. The scientific evidence is supportive, but not conclusive, but when you look at the way we evolved, it would make sense that we didn't evolve to eat three meals a day, and in fact that our bodies respond well to eating one or two times a day during a short period of time. I have in the past limited my eating hours to 1pm-4pm and had two mini meals during that time, and one large meal. It naturally restricts your calories, and if you consume mostly meats, fats and vegetables, you are not famished the remainder of the time. I was doing it to lose weight at the time, and it seemed to work, and I didn't really feel deprived since I could basically eat anything I wanted during that one big meal. I couldn't really eat more than about 1500 calories...anyway, I think I may start this pattern of eating again in a few days. Not until my sleep patterns normalize though...
