I missed a couple of days there. So much for good intentions...
I have decided that I really need to get on this losing weight thing--I am tired of weighing thirty pounds more than I should. I know I can diet and still follow a low-oxalate plan. And for the most part a Paleo plan as well...So here are my goals: Eat no more than 2,000 calories per day. Burn at least 500 calories per day, this should give me a weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week. (Now this calorie in/calorie out theory doesn't typically sit well with me, and let me tell you why.) In August (the 28th to be exact) I put myself on a strict diet of 1500 calories, and began an insane exercise program that had me exercising for 5 hours each day--I modestly estimated that I was burning about 500 calories doing this, although it no doubt was more...This in combination with my diet meant that on any given day, I was burning 500 calories in exercise, and had a calorie deficit additionally of 1,000 (since I was only eating 1500 calories, and based on my weight, etc should need 2500 to maintain my weight). The first two weeks I lost weight--ten pounds actually, but then everything stopped. I stopped losing weight, and my measurements didn't change either--for 6 weeks I hung in there, losing an additional 3 or 4pounds, but finally cut back drastically on my exercise--I now exercise 1-2 hours per day and eat around 1500 calories (some days more, some days less). So, my general approach to the whole calorie in/calorie out thing is to take it with a grain of salt. I apparently have an extremely efficient body when it comes to survival--I burn calories far too efficiently for this to work well as a "diet". Now, as a way of life, in combination with my low oxalate considerations, and the Paleo approach, I should (over time) lose weight gradually. So, I guess you could say this is my weight loss manifesto...
